Staying Here

2008

Dir. Taryn Edmonds & Laura Maragoudaki

A short documentary made in close collaboration with residents of the area of Scotswood, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. For over a decade this neighbourhood has been subjected of a series of radical regeneration schemes, including the controversial 'Going for Growth'; which involved mass demolition of homes and community dispersal. The plan was halted and ultimately dropped, leaving the area in a state of limbo while a new plan was formed and financed. This film explores the landscape of Scotswood and we hear from some of the people who have stayed, and their efforts to be involved in the regeneration process.
